Most international visitors require a Bhutan visa or entry clearance arranged before travel. Spring (March to May) is excellent for rhododendrons, clear views, and festival departures. Autumn (September to November) offers stable skies and strong Himalayan visibility. Winter can be rewarding in western Bhutan with fewer visitors, while summer brings lush landscapes but monsoon rain and possible road delays.

This cultural tour is easy to moderate, with most travel vehicle-supported and optional sightseeing walks. The hike to Tiger's Nest Monastery is the main physical highlight and requires a steady uphill walk of 4-5 hours round trip.

Pack comfortable walking shoes, modest clothing for temples, warm layers, rain protection, sunglasses, sunscreen, and a daypack. Travelers should dress modestly at religious sites, follow guide instructions for photography, reduce plastic waste, and respect silence inside monasteries.

We use comfortable, characterful 3-star and boutique hotels in Paro, Thimphu, and Punakha that blend traditional Bhutanese design with modern amenities. Rooms include en-suite bathrooms, heating, and Wi‑Fi in common areas. Single supplements are available on request for solo travelers.

Transport is by private, air‑conditioned 4WD or minibus with a professional, English‑speaking Bhutanese guide licensed by the Tourism Council of Bhutan. Drivers are experienced on mountain roads and all vehicles are equipped with seat belts and first‑aid kits.

Altitude on this tour maxes at 3,120 m at Tiger's Nest—mild AMS is rare but possible. We recommend consulting your doctor before travel, bringing personal medications, and packing a basic first‑aid kit. The nearest hospitals are in Thimphu and Paro; evacuation insurance is strongly advised.

Mobile networks (B‑Mobile and TashiCell) cover most towns, and 4G data is available in Paro, Thimphu, and Punakha. Most hotels offer complimentary Wi‑Fi in lobbies, though speeds may be slower than in major cities. Remote valleys have limited connectivity.

The local currency is the Ngultrum (BTN), pegged to the Indian Rupee (INR), which is also accepted. ATMs are available in Paro and Thimphu but may run out of cash; we recommend carrying USD for exchange. Tipping is not mandatory but is welcomed by guides and drivers—a standard guideline is USD 5–10 per guest per day for the guide and USD 3–5 for the driver.
